Sustainability, Innovation & the Future of Packaging Printing – A Look Back at the DFTA Symposium 2025
The first XXL-DFTA Symposium was a resounding success. The high demand demonstrated the industry's strong interest in the latest developments in flexo printing. As host, the Windmöller & Hölscher Group (W&H) provided the setting for this event, with excellent presentations and a live experience in the W&H Technology Centre.

A special highlight of the symposium was the live experience at the W&H Technology Centre. Impressive guided tours gave participants an exclusive insight into the latest technical developments. In addition to exciting live demonstrations, the event provided an excellent platform for bridging the gap between theory and practice.
Expertise and Innovation in Focus
The presentations covered a wide range of current topics:
- Regulations & Sustainability: Carolina E. Schweig provided clarity on the debates surrounding PPWR, the Green Deal and the EU taxonomy - emphasising that sustainability is much more than just reporting.
- Recyclability of inks: Lars Hancke (hubergroup) explored how PU-based inks affect recyclability.
- Machine perspective: Buelent Dil (W&H) gave a fascinating insight into PU-based inks from a printing machine manufacturer's point of view.
- Sustainable flexo printing: Roland Hamacher (Miraclon Corporation) showed the potential of water-washable flexo plates.
Enthusiasm and inspiration
The symposium was characterised by inspiring discussions, valuable insights and great enthusiasm on the part of the participants. The interaction between experts, moderators and guests highlighted the importance of such events for the future of the industry. We look forward to the next edition!
